TOKYO: A mild earthquake at the intensity of 4 on the Japanese Shindo scale shaken Hokkaido peninsula but caused no sea waves, or tsunami, Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The trembler hit the northern peninsula prefecture at around 14:07 on Jan 27. The epicenter of the quake was at the depth of approximately 130km underground of Iburi Region with the magnitude of 5.4 Shindo according to the agency.
Points where seismic intensity was 3 or higher was also observed in the surrounding area including Hakodate and Kushiro cities.
There was no reports of casualties or damage according to the authorities.
