TOKYO: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will visit Japan from March 15 to March 17 to hold the Japan-US Security Consultative Committee (SCC) with their counterparts Foreign Minister MOTEGI Toshimitsu and defense minister Nobuo Kishi.
This visit is their first overseas travel soon after the inauguration of the Biden administration and it demonstrates that the US values the Japan-US Alliance, the foreign ministry in Tokyo said.
“This will be an opportunity for the Ministers to exchange views on the increasingly severe security environment in the region, and conduct consultations on issues including further cooperation to enhance the Japan-US Alliance.”
