DUBAI: The Yemeni government has slammed the Houthis after a ballistic missile attack landed near a residential area. 

Minister of Information Muammar Al-Iryani said the attack - whoich is believed to have fallen short of its intended target - was a “violation of the ceasefire.” 

The first of the Houthi missiles launched on Tuesday from Sanaa, fell after a distance of 121 km in the northern province of Amran, while the second missile traveled 148 km in the province of Saada that borders Saudi Arabia, before falling to the ground.  

“This failed attempt by the Houthi militia is a dangerous escalation of the series of violations of the ceasefire,” The minister said. 
Al-Iryani called on the international community, the United Nations and the Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, to condemn the Houthis’ escalation and continued violations of the ceasefire.

He also called for more pressure to be placed on the Iranian regime to stop its interference in the region.
The Saudi-led Arab coalition also condemned the failed missile launch, pointing to the militia's continued violations of international humanitarian law by threatening the lives of hundreds of civilians.
