Magnitude 5.8 earthquake continues in east Japan, shaking Tokyo

TOKYO: A mild earthquake with a maximum seismic intensity of 3 struck Tokyo and Chiba prefectures at around 09:27 on March 28.

Japan metrological agency said that the epicenter of this trembler was off the eastern coast of Hachijojima Island south of Tokyo with a magnitude of 5.8 at the depth of approximately at 50 kilometers in the Pacific Ocean.

The agency said that there are no concerns about a tsunami being caused by this earthquake, and there has been no reported damage.

Surrounding regions were shaken with seismic intensity of 3 in in Tateyama City in Chiba and other villages in the area. While a seismic intensity of 2 was observed over a wide area of ​​Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Saitama Prefectures.
