WASHINGTON: Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga’s upcoming visit to the United States this month for talks with President Joe Biden reflects Japan-US friendship, a White House press secretary said Friday.
Confirming that the bilateral summit meeting will be held on April 16, Jen Psaki said at a press briefing, “This will be our first in-person visit from a foreign leader in the Biden-Harris administration, reflecting the importance we place on our bilateral relationship with Japan, and our friendship and partnership with the Japanese people.”
“President Biden looks forward to welcoming” Suga to the White House, she said.
Suga will be the first national leader to hold a face-to-face meeting with Biden, who took office in January along with Vice President Kamala Harris.
