TOKYO: An earthquake with a maximum seismic intensity of 3 hit Iwate and Miyagi prefectures at around 21:58 on April 3, Japan’s Metrological Agency reported.
The epicenter was off Miyagi Prefecture with a magnitude of 4.5, at the depth of approximately 50km. The agency said there is no concern about tsunami caused by this earthquake.
Seismic intensity was observed at 3 level in Ichinoseki city in Iwate and Kesennuma city in Miyagi Prefecture.
Meanwhile, there is no need to worry about tsunami damage caused by the earthquake observed also today in the South Atlantic Ocean with the magnitude estimated to be 6.5, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC).
