The government of Japan conferred a decoration on Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Committee Yassine Jaber, the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon announced on Thursday.

Jaber will be awarded with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, in appreciation of his contribution to strengthen bilateral relations between Japan and Lebanon.

He has demonstrated his strong leadership in bringing the parliaments of the two nations closer in his capacity as a Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for the Lebanese-Japanese Friendship for nearly 20 years.

Jaber also played a proactive role in solidifying the foundation of trade and commerce between the two countries, during his time as the Minister of Economy and Trade from 1995 to 1998.

“We are profoundly grateful for his longstanding commitment to improving the Japan-Lebanese bond and friendship in various spheres,” the Embassy stated.
