The daily number of new coronavirus cases stood at 535 in Tokyo on Sunday, falling below 600 for the first time in six days, the metropolitan government said.
According to Japan’s health ministry, the number of severely ill COVID-19 patients across the country grew by one from the previous day to hit a record high of 1,304.
In Tokyo, the weekly average of new cases stood at 649.4, down 19.5 pct from a week before, according to the metropolitan government. The number of severely ill COVID-19 patients under Tokyo’s criteria stood at 64.
