TOKYO: All members of the Japanese delegation have tested negative for the novel coronavirus after returning from their trip to Britain for a Group of Seven summit, Chief Cabinet Secretary KATO Katsunobu said Thursday.

“All members of the delegation led by Prime Minister SUGA Yoshihide, including reporters accompanying him, tested negative” in polymerase chain reaction tests they underwent after returning to Japan, Kato said at a press conference.

Kato declined to discuss a possible relationship between the face-to-face G-7 summit and the spread of the coronavirus in Cornwall, southwestern England, where the meeting took place on June 11-13.

He said that measures against the coronavirus, including the submission of negative result certificates, had been taken for people participating in the summit.
