TOKYO: Japan’s Air Self-Defense Force “Blue Impulse,” which is scheduled to fly in Tokyo on the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics, held today (July 21) a test flight over the city to draw the Olympics emblem.
The drill uses only white smoke instead of the five-color smoke to be used on the opening day, and depicts a scene reminiscent of the last Tokyo Olympics in 1964, in the blue sky in midsummer.
People in various parts of Tokyo, and media took photos of the test flight conducted by the acrobatic team of the Air Self-Defense Force. Last year, the team flew and drew a “Thank-You” flight to medical personnel.
They passed through landmarks such as Tokyo Tower and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku, aiming for the national stadium.
When approaching the sky above Tokyo Sky Tree, white smoke was blown out from the aircraft and a straight line appeared in the sky. Furthermore, near the national stadium, the Olympic mark was drawn in a splendid formation flight.
