TOKYO: The Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics organizing committee said Monday that 16 people linked to the Games, including three athletes from abroad, have newly tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The total number of coronavirus cases that have been reported by the committee since July 1 now stands at 148.
The other 13 people newly found with the virus are eight Tokyo Games officials, including those who are staying at the athletes village in the Harumi waterfront district in the Japanese capital, one member of the organizing committee and four outsourced workers, according to the committee.
