TOKYO: A medium earthquake with a maximum seismic intensity of 4 struck Hiroshima and eastern Shimane Prefectures southwest of Japan around 01:31 on August 18th.
Japan’s metrological agency said there is no need to worry about the tsunami coming from the Sea of Japan caused by this earthquake.
The epicenter of the trembler was at 10km underground with a magnitude of 4.2, the agency said.
The seismic intensity of 4 was observed in the north Hiroshima prefecture.
According to the agency, the lower seismic intensity of 2 was also observed in other parts of Hiroshima, Shimane, and the surrounding prefectures of Tottori and Okayama.
In the last few days, Shimane had four low-intensity earthquakes, each with a magnitude around 3.6, the agency said
Warnings of continued heavy rain and lightning have been announced in that area. Authorities urged the public to be wary of disasters as the ground might have loosened due to accumulated rainfall sweeping the region.
