A fuel tank explosion on August 15 took the lives 28 people in Akkar. In response, Japan has extended essential medicines and supplies through the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Japan has continually expressed support for Lebanon, especially following the devastating Beirut Blast on August 4., the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan WASHIO Eiichiro shared in a speech that the “Lebanese government should steadily work on the implementation of necessary reforms and act for advancing talks with the IMF, this is the sole way for Lebanon to overcome its difficult situation.”
Most recently, the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon shared in a statement how the Japanese Government stands in “solidarity with the victims’ families, and with all those affected by this catastrophe. Japan will continue to uphold its promise to help the Lebanese people during its current ordeals.”
The donated supplies will be dispatched to Al-Salam Hospital in Tripoli to aid some of those injured in the blast.
