The Tokyo metropolitan government reported 57 new cases of novel coronavirus infection Friday, with the daily figure below 100 for the seventh consecutive day.
The seven-day average of daily new cases came to 65.6, down 54.9 pct from a week before. New fatalities totaled seven.
The number of severely ill COVID-19 patients under the metropolitan government’s standards fell by one from Thursday to 39.
Across Japan, 531 people were newly found positive for the coronavirus, with new deaths totaling 23.
The nationwide number of very ill patients stood at 357, down by 24 from Thursday.
