TOKYO: Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the UAE. To celebrate this landmark year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan is planning to support several events both in Japan and in the UAE.

Those wishing to host events should follow the guidelines of the Foreign Ministry, which can be found on its home page.

The Ministry states that events“should aim to deepen mutual understanding and promote friendship between Japan and should include the implementation or introduction of social contribution activities.”

Events are expected to cover areas such as culture, arts, sports, education, tourism, economics and science.

Applicants in the UAE should apply to the Embassy of Japan in the United Arab Emirates or at the Consulate General of Japan in Dubai.

Applicants in Japan should contact the Second Middle East Division, Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
