TOKYO: Japan’s prime minister KISHIDA Fumio on January 31 said the cooperative relationship between Japan and Jordan has been steadily progressing based on their strategic partnership, and expressed his hope to strengthen the ties further.
During a telephone summit with King of Jordan Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, prime minister Kishida also reaffirmed Japan’s support for a two-state solution regarding the Middle East Peace.
In response, King Abdullah II appreciated Japan’s position and contribution regarding the Middle East Peace, the foreign ministry in Tokyo said.
In addition, Kishida said that Japan had provided Jordan with approximately $100 million as the COVID-19 Crisis Response Emergency Support Loan at the end of last year and that Japan would continue its support for UNRWA.
King Abdullah II, in response, expressed his gratitude for Japan’s wide-ranging cooperation with Jordan and UNRWA.
The two leaders concurred that they would continue to work closely together, the ministry said.
