TOKYO: Japan and UK leaders affirmed their “support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity” while monitoring the situation with grave concern.
At a summit telephone talk held on Feb. 16, KISHIDA Fumio, prime minister of Japan and Boris Johnson, prime minister of the United Kingdom, also confirmed that they reject any unilateral change by force and they will continue diplomatic efforts for de-escalation.
According to an official statement by the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo, the two leaders also affirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in promoting a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” as well as in the field of security and defense, including negotiations on the Japan-UK Reciprocal Access Agreement and defense equipment and technology transfer cooperation.
