TOKYO: Japan and African nations shared a view on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in a two-day online ministerial meeting of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development, or TICAD, that closed Sunday.
“African nations expressed concerns, and a common view was established on the need for international cooperation,” Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi told reporters after the meeting.
At the meeting, Hayashi said that it is necessary to make development finance more transparent, apparently bearing in mind excessive aid by China.
Participants agreed to share an awareness of the issue and work together on the matter, according to Hayashi.
