TOKYO: Iraq Ambassador Abdul Kareem Kaab paid a courtesy call on Taro Honda, Japan’s Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, on Thursday and agreed to continue to work closely together to further develop friendly relations between the two countries.
Honda said that Iraq has made great strides forward and stated that he would like to develop cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
In response, Ambassador Kaab expressed his gratitude for the support that the Government of Japan has provided to Iraq, the foreign ministry in Tokyo said.
The two countries celebrated the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2019 and then-Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi visited Iraq in August last year, the first such visit in 15 years.
