TOKYO: Tokyo confirmed 2,160 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, an increase of 479 from a week before and the eighth straight day of week-on-week rise.

Two new deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported in the Japanese capital.

The seven-day average of new infection cases rose 23.3 pct to 1,963.4. There were three severely ill patients, an increase of one from Friday.
