
TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio on Friday expressed his “deep sorrow” over the death of British Queen Elizabeth II.
“I can’t help but feel deep sorrow, and I offer my heartfelt condolences to the British Royal Family, government and people,” Kishida told reporters.
The loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is a great loss not only to the British people but also to the international community. Japan’s thoughts are with the United Kingdom as the British people overcome this deepest sadness.

Kishida praised the Queen for playing “a major role in the world’s peace and prosperity” and making “great contributions to the strengthening of Japan- Britain relations.”
The Japanese prime minister’s office lowered a flag to half-mast in honor of the Queen.
Kishida visted the British Embassy and signed a book of condolences on Friday.

The British Embassy in Tokyo opened an official book of condolence for members of the public to sign.
The public will be allowed to sign the book at the embassy from September 12 to 16 between 2PM and 4PM.
