TOKYO: The Government of Japan has strongly condemned the attacks including multiple rocket launches that have taken place against the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, resulting in the deaths of 13 people and many injuries on September 28.

Such attacks and loss of life threaten the stability of Iraq and the peace of the entire Middle East region, the foreign minister said.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it carried out this attack on Iranian-Kurdish opposition groups in the Kurdish region.

“The Government of Japan will continue to support the Iraqi government in their efforts to ensure peace and stability in Iraq, including in the Kurdistan region,“ according to the ministry.
