Tokyo: Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi and his Singaporean counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, agreed Saturday to accelerate talks on a bilateral defense equipment and technology transfer agreement.
The two ministers, meeting in Singapore, also affirmed cooperation over North Korea’s nuclear and missile development and condemned Russia’s annexation of occupied Ukrainian territory.
Earlier on Saturday, Hayashi met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Lee welcomed Tokyo’s decision to loosen its COVID-19 border control measures on Tuesday, saying that Singaporeans are looking forward to visiting Japan.
