TOKYO: Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison expressed on Tuesday his hope to visit Japan at an early date this year.
He showed the desire in phone talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The Japanese leader welcomed Morrison's remark.
Morrison was initially slated to make an official visit to Japan this month, but has postponed the trip as he needs to deal with spreading wildfires in Australia.
Abe and Morrison agreed to accelerate efforts to deepen the two countries' special strategic partnership for the stability of international society.
