TOKYO: Japan decided Tuesday to freeze the assets of five organizations involved in North Korea’s nuclear and missile development as additional sanctions against the nation following its recent ballistic missile launches.
“(North Korea’s) provocative actions are a serious threat to Japan’s national security and are absolutely unacceptable,” Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said at a press conference.
The top government spokesman demanded concrete actions from North Korea over the issue of Japanese nationals abducted to the country decades ago as well as its nuclear and missile development.
Japan will cooperate with the United States and South Korea to seek the denuclearization of North Korea, he stressed.
