TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio is planning to appoint former health minister GOTO Shigeyuki as the next economic revitalization minister, sources familiar with the matter said Tuesday.

Goto will replace YAMAGIWA Daishiro, who stepped down Monday amid criticism over his ties with the controversial religious group known as the Unification Church.
