MUENSTER (Germany): Japanese Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa and top European Union diplomat Josep Borrell on Friday agreed to continue sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine while vowing to keep providing support to Ukraine.
Hayashi and Borrell also confirmed cooperation to deal with North Korea’s nuclear and missile development programs and resolve the issue of abductions of Japanese nationals by North Korean agents decades ago.
Hayashi later held separate talks with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
With Colonna, Hayashi agreed to consider specific cooperative measures to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific region. They also exchanged opinions over ways to reform the dysfunctional UN Security Council.
