Japan Ambassador to Iraq attends Lexus opening in Baghdad

DUBAI: The Japanese Ambassador to Iraq MATSUMOTO Futoshi attended the opening ceremony of Japanese luxury car brand Lexus in Baghdad. 

At the ceremony, Matsumoto gave a speech lauding Japan and Iraq’s bilateral relations, especially with Toyota and Lexus launching in Iraq. 

The Ambassador told the audience that he started considering himself and Japan as part of Iraq. 

“Toyota and Lexus in Iraq is a perfect example of our cooperation,” he said. “I am very proud of this success.”

Matsumoto said that he wanted to encourage the private sector in Iraq and the Lexus opening was a step towards that. 

He posted his speech on Twitter saying: “Yesterday night, I attended the opening ceremony of Lexus Iraq in Baghdad and gave my speech to encourage the private sector in Iraq. Enjoy my words and visit this Japanese city! “
