TOKYO: Three police cars and a police truck were parked outside the Tokyo Court at around 1:30 pm Thursday.

According to Japanese media, when first interviewed by investigators, the suspect said he had come to attend a trial and brought the knife in case he was attacked.

In Japan, control over the possession of weapons is very strict, and it is strictly forbidden to bring knives or any other weapons into a Court of Justice.
