The Japanese government provided a USD 2 million emergency grant to Lebanon through the World Food Program (WFP), in response to the deterioration of the food security situation across the country, which has been exacerbated by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
The aid will be used to support WFP’s efforts to help 300,000 vulnerable people in Lebanon through monthly in-kind food parcels to enable them to meet their nutrition needs for a period of six months and mitigate the impact that the socio-economic crisis had on their livelihoods.
This initiative serves as an affirmation of Japan’s commitment to continue to stand by Lebanon and its people amid the unprecedented challenges that the country is facing.
