TOKYO: Japan Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa on Tuesday held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in Belgium where he is attending a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers.
Hayashi said Japan is prepared to provide Turkiye with various forms of assistance in response to the devastating earthquakes there.
He said Japan would provide technical assistance by utilizing Japan’s expertise; provide assistance for reconstruction of social infrastructure, residences, and other livelihoods; and provide assistance for rebuilding the economy and industry.
Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed his deep gratitude for the assistance from the government and people of Japan and thanked Hayashi for Japan’s assistance plan toward future recovery and reconstruction.
Hayashi once again expressed his heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives or suffered injuries as a result of the earthquake last month.
The two ministers also exchanged views on international affairs including Ukraine.
