TOKYO: Japan signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to promote the reconstruction of Ukraine from Russia’s invasion utilizing Japan’s experiences following a massive earthquake and tsunami in 2011.
The MOU was signed by Japanese reconstruction minister Hiromichi Watanabe and Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukraine deputy prime minister for restoration, at the Reconstruction Agency in Tokyo.
Japan’s knowledge gained from the March 2011 disaster will greatly contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine, Watanabe said.
In the MOU, Japan and Ukraine agreed to share Japanese experiences and knowledge from the disaster for Ukraine’s efforts to rebuild homes and infrastructure damaged in the war.
