DUBAI: The Japanese government is granting nine million Japanese yen for the Jordan Medical Aid for Palestinians (JMAP) to improve the quality of medical services in the Hitten Palestinian refugee camp.
Established in 1990, JMAP is an NGO in Jordan that provides medical services to Palestinian refugees in camps at a reasonable price.
The ¥9,777,663 grant aims to provide new X-ray machines, electroencephalographs, and electromyography equipment, which will allow for the establishment of a neurology department and enhance the overall quality of medical services at the refugee camp.
“As JMAP is staffed with dedicated healthcare professionals, I have no doubt that the medical equipment will be utilized effectively and efficiently to save more lives, alleviate suffering, and contribute to the overall well-being of the community in the camp,” said the Ambassador of Japan to Jordan, OKUYAMA Jiro.
Okuyama also said it is necessary to take all measures in order to prevent harm to civilians regarding the situation in Gaza.
Michael Al Sayegh, JMAP’s president, expressed his gratitude to the Japanese embassy and stressed the importance of the new medical equipment.
Japan has extended more than 1 billion Japanese yen for 158 projects in Jordan since 1993.
