TOKYO: Deputy Foreign Minister TSUJI Kiyoto spoke with Egyptian Ambassador Mohamed Abubakr on Monday and thanked him for Egypt’s assistance in helping with the evacuation of Japanese nationals and their families from the Gaza Strip.

Tsuji also spoke about the extremely important role that Egypt is playing in helping to reduce tensions in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through diplomatic efforts such as holding the Cairo Peace Summit and transporting humanitarian relief supplies to the Gaza Strip.

Both sides confirmed that the two countries will continue to cooperate closely on such matters.

In addition, they exchanged views on bilateral relations, including economic cooperation, and regional situations, including the Red Sea and Africa.

Tsuji expressed his gratitude toward President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s kind message of condolence immediately after the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred in January of this year and congratulated the President on his re-election.
