Japan’s Consul General to Dubai Akima Umezawa hosted a dinner to thank the close friends of Japan at his residence in the UAE March 9.
It was the first event of its kind to be hosted by the Consulate of Japan in Dubai. Umezawa explained that the best day to host such a dinner was the 9th of March, in which the ‘9’ translates to ‘san’ and the ‘3’ for March translates to ‘que’ therefore sounding out ‘san que’ or ‘thank you.’
“The Japanese language is so unique it has little in common with other language,” Umezawa told guests. “The Japanese culture is deeply accepted by the UAE people and we really appreciate this acceptance.”
Umezawa said that people in the UAE accepted the Japanese culture so much that they “arrive on time.”
The UAE and Japan have “good friendly relations and warm hospitable feelings,” he added.
The Consul General invited guests to sushi and Japanese wagyu beef at his residence.
