
TOKYO: ANDO Toshihide, the Director-General of the Foreign Ministry’s Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau, and Ali Asghar Mohammadi, the Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Department of East Asia and Oceania, held the 15th Japan-Iran Director-General Consultation in Tokyo on Monday, Japan’s Foreign Ministry reported.
The two sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including the situation in the Middle East and Iran’s nuclear issue.
Director-General Ando stressed the importance of advancing the talks currently being held between the United States and Iran, as well as further cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Ando said Japan will continue to make diplomatic efforts towards peace and stability in the Middle East.
The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations in a wide range of fields and agreed to continue multi-layered dialogue.
