TOKYO: The Jordanian Embassy in Japan co-organized a webinar this week titled Flood Control and Water Management in Nabatean Petra, which taught participants lessons about handling water around the ancient city of Petra.

The webinar focused on the climate and geology of Petra, as well as the ancient Nabateans who built water control systems in the area. There was also an overview of German Jordanian University’s projects studying the hydrology and flood control of the region.

The event was also co-organized by the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies and featured a lecture by much-published professor Nizar Abu Jaber from the German Jordanian University.

More than 100 students and faculty from Jordan, Japan and China attended the webinar, which ended with a call to continue similar collaborations in the future.
