DUBAI: Kuwait’s Health Minister Abdullah Al-Sanad said they have not yet detected any cases of the new COVID-19 strain, state news agency KUNA reported.

Research teams are working to detect any new strains of coronavirus, Al-Sanad added.

Over 153,000 people have signed up to receive the vaccine and priority will be given to health workers and elderly first, he added.

Kuwait reported 236 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number to 150,093 on Tuesday, but the death toll remained at 932 after zero coronavirus-related deaths were recorded.

The country does not expect to extend travel restrictions which are due to expire on Jan. 1.
