Barzan Holdings which as per its website "is responsible for empowering the military capabilities of the Qatari Armed Forces", displayed a model of an 8×8 modular unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at the November 18-20 DSEI Japan 2019 defence exhibition in Tokyo.

The UGV, which also comes in a tracked variant, can be used for surveillance, border protection and rescue missions as well as for logistical support and is aimed at meeting a future requirement by the Qatar Armed Forces for autonomous tactical support platforms.

As per Barzan the UGV can be equipped with different payloads, including high-definition day-and-night cameras, radar systems, and radio-frequency detectors.

Also on display were rifles produced in Qatar through a joint venture called Bindig between Barzan Holdings and Italian gun-maker Beretta to supply the locally produced ARX series of rifles including the 5.56x45mm ARX160 and the 7.62x51mm ARX200.

It was expected that the Bindig joint venture will supply about 30 thousand new rifles starting in 2019 for the Qatar Armed Forces and other security and government agencies.
