DUBAI: The UAE has extended the remote learning program for schools and universities from Jan. 17 to 21 to help curb the spread of COVID-19 across the country, state news agency WAM reported.

It further announced the postponement of all in-person exams until Jan. 28.

“This decision applies to educational establishments nationwide, with local authorities and teams having the authority to regulate its implementation,” Al-Mansouri Hazza Al-Mansouri, Official Spokesman of the UAE Education Sector said.

Al-Mansoori added that the coronavirus pandemic was being closely monitored to facilitate the safe return of students, teachers and administrative staff to schools and universities.

The UAE has recorded 2,616 new COVID-19 infections, 982 recoveries and four deaths overnight.
