Japan will extend a grant to Rashet Kheir to support the rehabilitation of Al Mahaba school in Saadnayel/Zahle through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program (GGP).
On November 18, 2022, Ambassador OKUBO Takeshi signed a grant contract with Ms. Ilda Nahas, President of Rashet Kheir.
Al Mahaba school provides educational services to more than 450 vulnerable students at affordable costs in Saadnayel, one of the most deprived areas in Bekaa. Although the school has played a pivotal role in offering educational service in the area, it suffers from lack of basic infrastructure, and students are obliged to learn in unsafe conditions.
Considering the vital role of the school, Japan has decided to support the Rashet Kheir’s initiative, which will rehabilitate Al Mahaba school.
This initiative will enable vulnerable students to study in a healthier and safer environment, which will enhance their educational performance.
At the signing ceremony, Ambassador OKUBO congratulated Rashet Kheir and reiterated Japan’s keenness to support the educational sector.
From their side, Rashet Kheir expressed their gratitude for Japan’s support especially at difficult times, and highlighted the importance of the project.
