RIYADH: Saudi Aramco has signed a long-term global sponsorship deal with Formula 1.
“This sponsorship will enhance the company’s presence in front of a global audience of 500 million interested in motor racing, and it is Saudi Aramco’s first global sponsorship of a major sporting event,” it said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The sponsorship includes displaying the Saudi Aramco brand at Formula 1 race tracks around the world and sponsorship rights for a range of grand prix races in 2020.
The deal includes displaying the Saudi Aramco logo on all Formula 1’s digital platforms and integrated broadcasts.
Saudi Aramco President and CEO Amin Al-Nasser said: “There is no doubt that Formula 1 represents a world-class sporting brand, and has millions of followers in the markets that Saudi Aramco is interested in. As the largest energy supplier and pioneer in reliability, performance, and innovation globally, we have ambitious goals in the transportation sector, such as finding advanced technical solutions that contribute to creating a new generation of automobile engines and improving their performance for the better by operating them with cleaner energy.”
Al-Nasser said such partnerships are important to help Saudi Aramco achieve its goals in sustainable oil demand as the company expands development of oil products for engines and applications that require high levels of performance.
