TOKYO: A Russian/ Japanese dancer who study at a Russian ballet school, and a Ukrainian dancer along with Japanese dancers have come together in Tokyo with a message of peace through ballet.

In a performance aimed at global harmony, IWAI Rina will direct SUZUKI Sophia, a 16-year-old student from the Novosibirsk State Choreography School, Ukrainian Anna Danirova and ISHIZUKA Rika in “Lux TERRA,” named in the hope of “a bright future illuminating the Earth.”

“Lux” is Latin for light and “terra” represents the Earth. The idea behind “Lux TERRA” is to spread the light around the world in the expectation of a bright future.

“At the core of our theme lies the belief that while cultures and customs may differ across regions, love, compassion, and the desire for peace as human beings are universal values of this planet. We wish for the next generation to inherit this precious Earth we have been blessed with and create an even better future. As individuals who are part of this Earth, let us stand proud and shine brightly,” Hiro Ishizuka, Producer of Lux TERRA explained work’s concept.

Another feature of this performance is the collaboration between the students of the Japanese ballet studio TERRA and professional dancers.
