Alice in Borderland, the most watched Japanese series on Netflix, is confirmed to get a third season, as the streaming service dropped the first teaser.

Netflix announced the third season via a post on social media. They also confirmed that Kento Yamazaki will return for his role as the protagonist.

The teaser showcases a Joker card, referencing season two’s final episode. The new season has no official release date yet.

The live-action thriller series, which premiered in 2020, is based on Haro Aso’s manga. The show follows Arisu, played by Yamazaki, as he and his friends are forced to compete in a series of sadistic games to escape the alternate reality they find themselves in.

The second season, which premiered in 2022, became Japan’s most-watched title ever as it had more than 200 million viewing hours worldwide.

Shinsuke Sato will return as the director for the third season. He previously worked on a variety of popular movies such as Bleach, I Am a Hero, and Death Note: Light Up the New World.
