DUBAI: PopCon Middle East, Dubai’s pop culture extravaganza, took place at Skydive Dubai from Feb. 2 to 4, and it was powered by Speedy Comics Group.

The event featured renowned Japanese voice actors and singers, including Romi Park, known for her roles in Attack on Titan and Fullmetal Alchemist, Ayaka Komatsu, known for her role in the live-action adaptation of Sailor Moon, and Chisa Yokoyama, known for her roles in Hunter x Hunter 2011, and Sakura Wars.

Additionally, two popular Japanese singers, Takayoshi Tanimoto, who sang the theme songs of Dragon Ball Kai and Digimon, as well as Yumi Matsuzawa, who sang the opening song of Martian Successor Nadesico, performed live at the event.

The event also featured the attendance of several celebrities, such as Alaqua Cox, who is the first deaf superhero in the Marvel universe. She plays Maya Lopez in Hawkeye .

Peter Gadiot, who plays Shanks in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece, also made an appearance at the event.

The event also featured gaming zones and competitions, including Dungeons & Dragons and Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh card competitions. Wrestling fans caught a live performance from the wrestlers of DXB Wrestle Fest, and creative workshops for attendees that were sponsored by Shams Free Zone.

International artists such as Adam Polina, Mike Krome, Eranga D, Mostafa Moussa, Christian Duce, and Jesse Simon were present at the event to feature their illustrations and works for comics and pop culture.

Various exhibitors, such as Japan in Arabia, participated at PopConMe to showcase their products and activities to the visitors of the event.

The organizers of PopCon have confirmed that the event will come back in 2025.
