An anime adaptation is in the works for popular manga Daemons of the Shadow Realm, with an official teaser trailer revealed.
The news was announced alongside other anime titles by Crunchyroll during the Industry Panel at Anime Expo 2025, which ran from July 3-6.
The anime will be produced by Japanese anime studio bones film, the acclaimed studio behind Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
This marks a long-awaited reunion between Hiromu Arakawa, the artist behind Daemons of the Shadow Realm, and the studio, whose previous collaboration is hailed as one of the most legendary anime series ever made.
Bones film president Masahiko Minami confirmed the team working on the anime, including: Masahiro Ando, who will direct the adaptation, Noboru Takagi, who will write the script, Nobuhiro Arai, who will design the characters, and Kenichiro Suehiro, who will compose the score.
Daemons of the Shadow Realm is set in a mysterious world where the uncanny and the fantastical collide. It follows twins Yuru and Asa as they unravel the secrets of their supernatural origins and confront powerful beings known as Daemons.
The manga, which began serialization in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan in 2021, has released nine volumes so far and is praised for its moody atmosphere and emotional storytelling.
The upcoming anime adaptation promises to continue Arakawa’s tradition of rich, character-driven fantasy. While a release date has yet to be announced, Crunchyroll has secured the international streaming rights.
