The United Arab Emirates-based cultural enterprise the Alserkal Arts Foundation hosted a fundraising day for Lebanon on August 15 to support victims of the Beirut explosion that ripped through the city on August 4, killing nearly 200 and wounding more than 6,000.
A number of businesses and art galleries that form part of the arts neighborhood in Al Quoz, Dubai, will donate all their proceeds, in partnership with Emirates Red Crescent, for the Lebanon Relief Fund.
Titled ‘A Day for Beirut’, the total proceeds raised by businesses for the initiative, will be matched by by the Alserkal Arts Foundation.
Donation items such as dry and canned food , first aid kits, plasters, bandages, gloves, masks, antiseptics, brooms and brushes, toys and hygiene products will be accepted at Warehouse 46 inside the Avenue, which will be sent to Beirut through Emirates Red Crescent.
Receiving donations from more than 500 people on August 15 alone, the initiative has also launched a donation drive to collect urgently needed items at a collection point in A4 Space that will run until August 29.
