Japan Promotion announced it will be exhibiting JAPAN TIDE at World Art Dubai 2020 will be held from Oct. 8 – 10 at the UAE’s Dubai World Trade Center.

Speaking to Arab News Japan, Aki Yamada, who is in charge of the Middle East projects at Japan Promotion, said that the group has “exhibited at the Japan Pavilion every year since the first edition of the show and this year will be our sixth. We have showcased about 200 to 300 art works from different genres of Japanese art every year. Workshops of Japanese traditional art techniques and authentic Japanese culture such as tea ceremony and Dynamic art performances, including Japanese calligraphy performance by Japanese artists, have been highly acclaimed by visitors every year.”

Yamada added that they will be showcasing over 200 artworks from over 30 Japanese artists under the project JAPAN TIDE.

Some featured styles include “Japanese calligraphy, sumi-e (Japanese ink painting), Japanese painting and woodcarving, cloisonné and traditional Japanese Muntin art using exquisite traditional technique, in addition to contemporary arts including a unique series of sculptures called (C-Art),” she said.

Yamada explained that due to the coronavirus pandemic, many Japanese artists who were planning to travel to Dubai were unable to join.

“Five Japanese artists will come to Dubai and will welcome visitors at the venue,” she said.

Japan Promotion has exhibited Japan at various big events globally such as Japan Expo Paris, Hyper Japan in London, Games Con ME 2019 and ADIHEX2019 in Abu Dhabi.

In 2017, Japan Promotion launched a cultural project called JAPAN TIDE which has introduced Japanese high standard culture, arts and products to the Middle East region in April 2017.
