Dubai: Sony is swapping the ‘X’ and circle buttons on the Japanese PlayStation 5 console, shifting towards the West’s use of the ‘X’ button to confirm actions and a circle to cancel.
This is the first time such a change has been in the 25 years since the console was released in Japan.
According to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, the video games will still use the older versions of the buttons, in contrast with how the buttons will not fuction.
Wow, this is big news for UI/UX. PlayStation 5 will use the X button to confirm by default for ALL REGIONS including Japan, who previously used O to confirm for the past 26 years. Muscle memory frustration for the nearly 10M PS users in Japan coming up.https://t.co/Heo7XaWjsk
