DUBAI: Arab company Spacetoon Pictures released the latest Japanese anime blockbuster ‘Detective Conan: The Bride of Shibuya’ in cinemas in the Middle East on April 28.
The movie is being released in original Japanese version with Arabic and English subtitles.
The movie, which has been released in Japanese theatres earlier in April, successfully took the first spot for the first two weeks of its release in Japanese theatres since April 15 and sold more than 2.5 million tickets. The movie earned 1% more in its first three days than the previous record-holding film (for total earnings) in the franchise, Detective Conan: Fist of Blue Sapphire, in its first three days.
The movie takes places in Shibuya on Halloween. At the Shibuya Hikarie building, a certain wedding ceremony is taking place. There, Miwako Sato is in a wedding dress. Suddenly, an intruder bursts in, and Wataru Takagi is injured protecting Miwako. At the same time, the serial bombing criminal from the incident three years ago that killed Jinpei Matsuda (whom Miwako was in love with) escapes. Rei Furuya, who used to be a classmate of Jinpei’s at the police academy, tracks the culprit down, but a mysterious costumed person appears and attaches a collar bomb to his neck. Conan hears about the incident that happened three years ago from Rei and tries to disarm the collar bomb.
Netizens in Middle East & North Africa took to social media platforms expecting Spacetoon Pictures to bring the movie, as the company has previously brought other Detective Conan movies to the region, such as; Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet, Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer and Detective Conan: The Fist of the Blue Sapphire, while other movies of the franchise were broadcasted on Spacetoon free-to-air TV channel and Spacetoon Go online streaming service.
‘Detective Conan: The Bride of Shibuya’ is available now in movie theatres across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Iraq.
